Wondering what a Zermatt ski pass will set you back in 2025?

Here’s the latest pricing from single-day tickets to family discounts and flexible options all in one place.

This means that the Zermatt Bergbahnen (the lift company) have come up with plenty of different ski pass ticket options to suit everyone but it also means it can feel a little complicated navigating the options to find the best one for you.

Zermatt works with a dynamic pricing system for ski passes, which means that it is not possible to quote exact prices here. For the best prices it is recommended to book early and the cheapest days will be outside of the high season.

Here we try and give you a bit of an overview of the different options.

Beginner Pass

The beginner pass is perfect if you are a total beginner or pretty new to skiing. You have access to the Sunnegga funicular, the Wolli beginner area and then 3 chairlifts (Eisfluh, Findeln and the Blauherd bubble/chair) that access blue runs with increasing difficulty.

If you are in Zermatt for more than a few days, you could always purchase a beginner pass for a couple of days but then you might find it better to go for the Zermatt Winter pass so you can also access the long and wide blue runs over on Gornergrat.

Beginner Pass

Level

Total beginner – early intermediate

Number of days:

Great for a couple of days but after that you might want to look at the Zermatt pass so you are not restricted to just a few slopes.

Zermatt Winter Pass

The Zermatt winter pass allows you to access all of the lift on the Zermatt ski of the ski area. If you are in town for just a couple of days, then you may find that skiing the Zermatt side is more than enough for you.

You can upgrade your Zermatt pass to an international pass for around 46chf per day (it’s a dynamic pricing system so this number can change). For a week long Zermatt stay, this is the best option if you know you’ll only ski over the border once or the weather looks like it might not allow multiple days up high.

Zermatt Winter Pass

Level

Early intermediate and above

Number of days:

As many as you like 🙂 but if you are skiing for 6 or more days you may want to purchase an International pass so you can ski over to Cervinia.

International Pass

The International pass is for all of the lifts in the full Matterhorn Paradise ski area, Zermatt, Cervinia and Valtournenche. If you are planning to ski into Italy at least once in a week then it might make sense to purchase the International ski pass.

That way you don’t need to queue up to buy the one day extension and you’ll have the flexibility to pop over the border whenever you want. Trips to Cervinia can be just for coffee; they don’t need to be full day outings.

Should you buy an international pass?

International Pass

Level

Early intermediate and above

Number of days:

As many as you like. If you are in town for just one or two days you may find that skiing the Zermatt side alone is more than enough to explore.

The lift system has seen constant investment over the last 15 years

Other lift passes

Half day pass

A half day pass is only valid for the Zermatt ski area and is only available in the afternoon (from 12:15).

If you are in Zermatt for a week then you could buy the 6.5 day pass which is 6 full days and either the afternoon before or the morning after and can be purchased as a Zermatt or International pass. This could work well if you have a chance to squeeze in an extra half day skiing in 🙂

Flexi pass

Available for the Zermatt and International pass – If you don’t think you will ski every day then a Flexi pass could be the one for you. Choose to ski a certain number of days out of a greater number of days: for example ski 2 out of 4 days, or 5 in 7 days. Lots of flexibility.

Ski pass including shuttle train from Tasch or Randa

If you are staying in Tasch and Randa you will take the train to and from there either side of your ski day, this is the pass to go for. You can purchase this pass as either the Zermatt pass or the International pass.

Ikon pass

Ikon pass holders are entitled to a 7 day (or 5 day for Ikon Base pass holders) Zermatt Winter ski pass. If you are planning to get over to Italy while you are visiting, then don’t worry, you will be able to buy the International pass upgrade.

Where to buy?
