saycheese! Gornergrat

The name tells you what you’re getting. saycheese! is the cheese restaurant at the Kulmhotel, and it does the Swiss classics with no fuss. You can have fondue in several varieties, or raclette made with cheese from the Horu cheesery in Zermatt. Start with a Valais dried meat platter, or the Valais-style white wine soup if it’s cold out. Finish with Toblerone fondue for two or more.

If the weather allows you to sit outside there isn’t a much more spectacular view in the Alps.

Glacier Alpine Kitchen

Glacier Alpine Kitchen is the sit-down lunch at the top of the Gornergrat, inside the 3100 Kulmhotel. With views of the Gorner Glacier and Monte Rosa stretching across to the Matterhorn.

There’s a menu of Swiss classics made with local produce and a Toblerone chocolate mousse to finish!

Gitz Gädi

Gitz Gädi is the restaurant in the Hotel Silvana just above Furi. They have plenty of local specialties and traditional dishes to try but also offer some great salads and lighter dishes. The atmosphere is warm and cosy inside, and you’ll find it very welcoming on a cold day with the large fireplace in the dining room.

Marmo

This is a cosy mountain restaurant where a warm atmosphere and good local food can be found. Just steps away from the Furi gondola station, Marmo is in a perfect location at the bottom of the Furgg Furi black run or the Weisse Perle red from Schwarzsee. It is open for lunch daily (with limited availability in summer) and two special themed dinner evenings each week (“Cheesy Tuesday” and “Schnitzel Thursday”), Marmo offers unforgettable culinary experiences framed by alpine ambiance and warm hospitality.

ICE Pizzeria

You’ll find this pizza restaurant right next to the self service at Trockener Steg. With plenty of pizza and pasta options this is a great stop for those in the area who are looking for a table service lunch.

Simi

A relaxed restaurant that is a lovely spot to enjoy a traditional Swiss lunch, great for fondue or a rösti followed by a delicious apple strudel. Those in the know would also recommend the tuna.

Zum See

Zum See has been a sought after lunch reservation for decades. The relaxed atmosphere, warm reception and fabulous food are always a hit. The quintessentially Swiss mountain hamlet provides a beautiful backdrop to lunch.

Fluhalp

The location of this restaurant alone make it a special place to visit. Whether you ski red run 19 or walk the 35 minutes from Blauherd, you find yourself quite a distance from any of the lift infrastructure. In fact, the building was originally constructed as a base for climbers to stay before they embarked on an ascent of the 4000m peaks to the east.

Fluhalp has one of the largest terraces in the resort and the mountain views alone make it a worthwhile lunch stop.
But the large menu is packed with a combination of local specialities and more creative dishes that will make you want to return again and again.
From the home made rosti dishes to the ‘Testa Rossa Noodles’ , everything is created with care and attention to detail.

Blatten

Another great lunch spot with fantastic food and a traditional rustic feel. Half way down run 50 for skiers. The 20-30 min walk up from town is a great choice for non skiers who enjoy a bit of winter walking.

Al Bosco

Al Bosco sits at 2,222 metres, part of the Riffelalp Resort, with a big sun terrace looking straight at the Matterhorn. The food is Italian with an alpine accent: wood-fired pizzas, fresh pasta and risotto, plus daily specials built on Swiss produce, usually a good piece of fish or a properly seared steak. Save room for the tiramisu.
